This house is an traditional Japanese building that was taken to the historic village just outside of Sapporo in Hokkaido. It was taken in February 2009. The snowfall was fantastically thick. Just think how cold it must have been for the residents.
The historic village of Hokkaido is a wonderful experience. It is an open air museum and has about 60 typical period buildings from all over Hokkaido. It was opened in 1983 to provide an understanding of a historic period in Japan and to preserve certain buildings for the coming generations. And it is definitely worth the journey to soak up the atmosphere of years ago.
