It is hot and humid in Japan at the moment. But it is just the right kind of weather for snow cones, or kakigori. Some traditional stores still use the hand cranked machine to make the kakigori. There are also electric ice shavers that do the job equally well.
- The Kakigori Shop
The colour is very vibrant but this is a traditional Japanese dessert that is made with shaved ice and syrup.
Which flavour is your favourite?

The Kakigori dessert is very popular in summer and particularly at festival times in Japan.
- Condensed Milk and Strawberry Ice
The condensed milk variety is very sweet!
- Matcha with Black Bean
The taste of the lemon ice was great, but I worried about the colouring!
