I am amazed each season as the Uniqlo products are placed on the shelf. Great prices, and nice quality = strong value for money.
Uniqlo clothes are a good staple of many Japanese people’s wardrobe. They even manufacture and mass produce Japanese traditional garments such as the yukata at very reasonable prices. A Uniqlo yukata will retail for around 2,990 yen.

And for any pair of Uniqlo jeans that is too long – there is a resident seamstress onsite. Service!

There is even a Uniqlo at many big stations and airports. No excuse for not packing enough t-shirts for the trip now. And what great prices!
- cheap, cheaper, cheapest
How can other retailers compete with this I wonder? And what a change in consumer mentality as well. I remember the bouyant days of the 1980′s, before the economic bubble burst. Back then the Japanese were obsessed with foreign fashion brands. Girls and guys sported the latest Dior bags and Gucci accessories.
Now it is quite acceptable to look for value for money in clothing. Uniqlo has embraced this trend and has benefited greatly in the market share.
