Updated … 23rd July 2009 … On the front of the windscreen there is a solar eclipse happening! Brilliant shot!
Twitter was a great place to be as the eclipse made its historic moves over large parts of Asia and Japan as well.
Flickr also proved to be a great source to catch up on the location and action if you couldn”t find the time to travel that far south. What a long way in technology we have come since Japan’s last solar eclipse.
Creative work!Who would have thought that the photos and video of the day could be available to anyone around the world with such ease. Thanks to Flickr and Twitter you could almost believe you were watching the eclipse whilst sitting at your corporate desk – working away!
Last time a total eclipse happened in Japan the year was 1963 – the year before the Tokyo Olympics, prior to man walking on the moon and a long time before blogging online!
Reportedly, people are holding a two-day festival on the small southern island of Yakushima. But all 180 hotels are reportedly fully booked. Another story of an island innundated is that of Akusekijima. Interesting article by the BBC.
As for me, I couldnt get time off work so … I will just have to cyber star gaze! And Twitter and Flickr, along with a bit of google will have to do it! Thankfully no more having to rely on the 6pm news!!
This photo is from flickr - I wonder what photos will be posted after the eclipse. There are going to be an expected 4 mins of total eclipse.
24 hours later and update …… thx to @tokyotopia and a few other twitter buddies and I was directed to the party!
My favourite captured moments with credits from yesterday are captured below – good work guys!
A lovely video capture of a partial solar eclipse from kamome.
Great shot of the photographers.
For those that did wait for the newspapers to publish their take on the eclipse here is a good source of extra shots.

Lol! Glad you liked that shot!
I found the old guys taking photos a lot more interesting than the actual partial eclipse ^_^
