Did you know that the Queen has a twitter account? She is not tweeting herself but rather engaging staff to tweet on her behalf and update her royal subjects on the diary dates of the British Monarchy. It is a great idea! Looks like Her Majesty is still moving with the times. So you can now follow royal twitter @BritishMonarchy

This got me thinking and wondering whether there is any imperial twitter from the Kunaicho in Tokyo. Does anybody know? Perhaps not.
I have spent the last few days reading the book by Ben Hills, Princess Masako, Prisoner of the Chrysanthemum Throne. It is a book that provides amazing insight into the world of Japanese royalty. I must do a follow up post on this later.
Has anyone else read this book? In the meantime, here is a piece of youtube footage taken recently capturing the Japanese Imperial family in January 2009.
It shows the young boy, Prince Hisahito, born to the royal family in September 2006. Prince Hisahito is third in line to the Japanese throne, after his uncle Prince Naruhito and his father Prince Akishino.
It is a nice piece of video footage, but a little long and very centered around the third in line to the throne. Understandable, perhaps? But, I don’t think that there will be Imperial Twitter any time soon.
