Have you ever eaten turtle? Suppon are softshell turtle and are a delicacy in Japan. I am afraid that 25 years after the first time I was introduced to this exotic food …. I am still not able to eat it.

It is said that its blood is nice if it is mixed with wine! It is also said that this turtle is good for the skin as it is a food that is rich in collagen. Hence it will have an anti-aging effect….. in fact I really like the way that ‘Gaijin Pot‘ describes it -
think of suppon as an expensive facial that you can also eat

i’m partial to a glass of red (or two… okay, a bottle), but a turtle blood blend is a varietal i think i’ll avoid.

Thanks I havent had many takers for it yet … but I remember back in 1985 it was a delicacy in the host family house that I was billeted with – It was reserved for the host father – and he offered to share some with me as a foreign guest to their house …. I was polite but said it wasnt for me!

You are right, even if I ate meat, I would never eat turtle. I realize this is cultural because logically speaking there’s little difference between eating turtle or eating something like chicken. To vegetarians, it all seems pretty disgusting.
