Weddings Japan and o-Shugi Bukuro

Saturday in Japan and I wonder how many people are organising 0-Shugi Bukuro?

If you go to a Japanese wedding reception, the accepted gift is cash. The cash needs to be enclosed in a special envelope called o-shugi-bukuro, and your name is written on the front.

Recently, I found this O-Shugi Bukuro in Disney Land.

The O-Shugi Bukuro are always very beautiful. But it is important to get the money etiquette correct and not to place two notes in the envelope. They say things that can be split in two are bad luck! So often three notes of 10,000 Yen is considered a reasonable amount if you are friends to the couple. At that price – you wouldnt want to attend too many weddings I suppose!
