I was most surprised to read that Japan’s hornets are the largest in the world and can be quite deadly.
No wonder then, that the spectators at the Kansai Open golf tournament were quite concerned when hornets honed for the attack as they watched Ryo Ishikawa defend his championship over the weekend.
A total of 11 spectators at the Takarazuka Golf Club in Hyogo Prefecture were stung during the incident.

Between 20 and 40 people die each year in Japan from the venom of a giant hornet. Not good for the concentration at the golf at all.

Reminds me of when the cricket was interrupted by a swarm of bees a few years ago in Sri Lanka.

Those sure are some nasty looking buggers. Just how big are they? When i was growing up,just a little kid at the time,I accidently walked into a swarm of hornets. I got stung all over. My grandmother litterally doused me with vineagar to get rid of the pain of the sting. I’ll never forget that. OUCH!!!
Yeah, I guess that would make it a bit hard to concentrate.
