Jelly? Chewy? Try Warabi mochi

Have you ever tried warabimochi? It is very popular in Japan during the summer months.
It is an original Japanese sweet made from warabi starch.
And it is soft, with the consistency of jelly.

Have you tried warabi mochi?
Have you tried warabi mochi?

This warabi mochi from Kyoto was delicious.

Some people buy warabi mochi from a van that goes round the streets advertising the sweet with a loud speaker. Little bit different in style to the traditional ice cream van but same along the same lines! Take a look.

Try some of these Japanese cookbooks or listen to some great music this summer perhaps?
