I have looked at ‘fairground’ food before at Kimonobox.
The cucumber on sticks brought a lot of interesting comments.
But these giant dango were really grand and very popular on the weekend at the Mitaka Matsuri.
They cost 300 yen each and brought a fairground atmosphere to the small festival centered around the local shrine.
There was a great smell of soya sauce permeating the night air. Lovely!
It was a fantastic atmosphere that typifies a Japanese summer!
Finished off by a quick prayer at the local temple – had to queue to pray of course – but it is all part of the experience.
