Gachapon are also called capsule toys. And the toys inside the capsules are generally related to manga or anime figures. Sometimes there are some Disney gachapon toys which go down a treat.
A popular place to purchase the gashapon is from coin machines – but to my surprise it looks like in certain parts of Japan these machines can be found on trains! Surely this must be a once off?
Has anyone else seen the gachapon train?

Seeing the banners that are hung in the train it must be near christmas time. Those gashapons would make inexpensive gifts to any otaku or young one. Great looking train, the wood floors make it look like the trains of old.
Many thanks for your support
That is GENIUS! That would stimulate business for sure. I’m surprised no one thought of this idea before… people are trapped on a train for a long commute, that machine staring them in the face the whole time. Even if there’s only a slight interest in what’s in the machines, a lot of people putting 200-400 yen in a machine for lack of anything better to do or just getting soaped by the colorful plastic staring them in the face would add up to a lot more sales every month. ^^

Ah the Iron Chef. I really loved that series on the Food Network, brings back many memories. now to see it advertised on the trains is paying homage to a great show. This seems to be the going thing in Japan now days to using the trains to do their adverts. Ganbaette desu.

I watched a couple of Iron Chef episodes back in the day…and loved it. Naoto Takenaka is a good (comedic) actor too, I’ve seen him in the drama series Taiyou no Uta and the recent movie The Shinjuku Incident.

Thanks for the information, I cant wait to read more of your posts.
It is an excellent idea isnt it ! Wonder what else could be sold on a train like this – cold drinks perhaps ? Wipes for the hands? The list could be endless … what commercial possibilities
I think you are right there
Thank you
LOL! It is a great idea isnt it
If you look carefully into the train on the left handside there are two wooden toys that the kids can sit on and ride as well.
