Harajuku, Unique Culture

In the late 1950′s, many fashion designers, models, and photographers began to congregrate in Harajuku. Over the decades that followed, it built a unique cultural zone with outlandish fashions and trendy music.

Today, Harajuku is famous as a place to parade distinct fashion statements – particularly on the weekend! And there are many styles that Harajuku girls and boys can adopt. Punk, Gothic, Cosplay and Super Cute styles are just a few.

This little girl looks like she was with family – dressed to match the occasion of a day in Harajuku.

I have found a couple of my favourites from Harajuku on flickr which demonstrate the unique culture of the place.

These girls look like they are off to meet up with friends.

This one really depicts a great character – combination gothic and traditional culture.
