Do you like tako yaki? They are a Japanese dumpling with baby octopus inside and mayo and fish shavings on top.
They were first made popular in the Taisho era ( around 1912-1926) in Osaka and since then have become a very popular side dish or take away food in Japan.

Those seem to be quite the popular fast food thing. I’ve never had octopus before, don’t know if i could handle it. In the J-Drama Gokusen 2 members of her family had a Tako Yaki stand. was quite funny that they seemed to give away more than they sold.

i adore your website. I love all things Japanese and have visited five times now but I am always trying to find a way to return. The picture of takoyaki made my heart skip a beat because these are my second favourite food in the whole world behind ramen noodles. I recently have discovered a few more places selling takoyaki around my universtiy in Melbourne but they do not compare with the authentic item.

I love takoyaki! I just had some this summer in Nagoya. I’ve enjoyed takosushi for a long time but the takoyaki balls are very good too.
