Very shortly it will be shichi-go-san in Japan and chitose-ame are already in the shops for the occasion.
Chitose-Ame is a candy stick that comes in two colours – red and white. The name Chitose means 1000 years old and symbolises the long life that parents pray for their children to enjoy.
My daughter’s chitose-ame is still sitting in the packet …. the candy sticks are very hard. But I think she saw them as too symbolic to be eaten….(?) or maybe she figured she wouldn’t like the taste. The original bag which was patterned with turtles and cranes on is long gone. But this little guy kept his bag and has a fantastic dress for the day. Lovely shot!

I luckily just go to the inlaws and chill out for a few days. Don’t have to worry about travelling – just an hour door-to-door. Would love to go to Nagano for a white Christmas though…

sounds great …. I have the inlaws for Xmas and my family for new year … but rather than sit around at home I organise a trip away — but so many people and so many requests and …. it makes for a headached in booking … hence my picture of a stormy sky at the top!!! but I am sure that come January I will be posting some great photos of our holidays in Yokohama …
