Church UK in Osaka Skyscraper

Looking at the average skyscraper in Osaka … you perhaps would not think that there was a heritage Grade-1 listed replica of a beautiful English church housed on the 21st floor. But mum saw this story in the British newspaper and emailed me the link with the comment -’only in Japan’.

It looks like Japanese developers found this quaint thatched roof church in Brockhampton, near Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, and decided to make a replica for Japanese weddings on the 21st floor of an Osaka skyscraper! The replica is three quarters the size of the original church and it is housed alongside photographic studios, restaurants and honeymoon suites.

What a surprise the tiny population of Brockhampton (180 people I think) must have had!

What a surprise the village must have had the day the developers hit town!

And what a story!

However, for the Japanese these types of ‘amazing’ creations are not as surprising but more or less expected by the strong bridal clientle. Competition for business is still fierce in the bridal industry in Japan.
