The Munich Festival in Hokkaido was established in 2002 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the sister city partnership with Munich. True, you dont get to see the snow festival but you do get a wonderful array of Xmas lights through the main streets. It is so pretty and well worth the visit. You also get a great variety of stands selling hot wine, hot German food and pretty crafts.
