Today, I came across the cutest maid costumes for kids and was surprised at what quality you can buy for a reasonable price online.

You are right – they are I suppose. I was just amazed at how much detail goes into them for such a price. If you tried to buy the pattern, and materials and then sat down to make this for your kids it would cost a lot more than what it is advertised at.
But I suppose from a cosplay related angle, you might be right. Would you want to dress your daughters as maids?

My daughters would probably wear those if they were given them. They also like wearing Kimonos. The Hello Kitty ones are evil!
