All this talk of economic crisis and cut backs doesnt seem to have effected the koalas at Osaka Zoo. Their diet of gumleaves costs the tax payers of Osaka City Japan – $ 1.4 million dollars a year!
And yet the city of Osaka has the largest homeless population in Japan.
How can such luxuries be justified? After all its not as if the koala is a native of Osaka!
Supposedly the leaves are grown all over Japan and delivered to the zoo every 2-3 weeks. In such extreme economic times are the koalas worth the expense?
Personally I love koalas but if I were a tax payer in Osaka I would be suggesting that people get on a plane and go and see them in Australia.
