Now the title might sound decidely strange, but I was first offered this for school lunch in Japan years ago and I have never forgotten my initial surprise!

Its a strawberry cream sandwich. It costs about 290 yen from the local 7-11 store or super and it tastes quite yummy. This particular lunch shot was taken by hikikomorix at the Ghibli Museum Cafe in Mitaka, Tokyo.

Over the years, I have become a fan of the various fruit sandwiches and cream in Japan. I am not sure my grandmother would approve of such a combination but I like them.

I love the small caption beside these sandwiches that says Think Body! Think that this must refer to the salad sandwich and not the Ichigo Cream Sando! Thanks d slat – its a good shot!

The photo below- great shot from McYue – shows the strawberry or ‘ichigo cream sando’ sitting next to what looks like a ham and tomato sandwich. Now that is variety in sandwiches!!! (I wonder what Australian kids would think if these sandwiches were on offer in the school canteen? And British kids with the history of school dinners – wonder how they would view a strawberry cream sandwich?)

Personally, I can’t wait for lunch already!
